This one is by far the best tool for checking backlinks and link strength. It lets backlinkcheck.com and others look old and outdated, believe it.

The first way to advertise on your site, one which i really like is using CBProads. Simply spoken, Nofollow backlinks are links on a site or blog which have a special HTML tag on them which tell the search engines not to "follow" aka "value" a link.

We all know the problem of comment spam: People posting comments with their link, people who hope to get some "link juice" to their sites from placing a link back to their site.

Enforcing a "nofollow" policy or even disabling all links for site visitors and commenters (so their links turn to plain text) is incredible egoistical.

Something must be seriously off with Google Page Ranking right now. I am coming from forums where i read how some web sites reached PR5 (!) within a couple of months.

Some other people report that they saw sites getting page rank 4 or 5 in 3 months with a few backlinks. Low quality, crappy sites.

www.1up-seo.com is up for over 3 years now, and i remember we once had PR2 but i let the site go and for some reason 1up's PR dropped to 0. Right now we have almost 600 backlinks, and i get "some" traffic to the site. About 600 pages are indexed in Google and i am ranking well for some SEO related keywords.

I recently observed that a competing site can outrank another site even if they have very bad on-site SEO. The competing site has barely 18 backlinks and is ranking #1 in Google for a very good keyword. The competing site has no SEO at all, its a simple and ugly page with only ONE page indexed in Google.

My own site has 300+ backlinks and way, way better on-site SEO.

Reason: Competing site has all its backlinks on related sites and forums - while i have angela/paul backlinks. The only other factor which speaks for the other site is its domain age.
