Article Marketing is Better ... - Part II: Article Marketing Done Right
Article Marketing is Better than Adwords - Part II
Advanced Article Marketing
Well yesterday i was talking about my successfull attempts at article marketing, and today i want to expand on this since there is a hell of a difference between "Article Marketing" and "Article Marketing done Right".
We will be talking about Advanced Article Marketing.
In a screenshot yesterday you saw that one article on ezine got more clicks on one day as opposed to some other articles i had on there for two years.
There are some key factors which decides whether an article is successful or not, and one of the keys to this is keyword research.
The other important factor is to actually deliver something in the article, directly deliver a solution to a need or problem. For example: A potential good article could be an article about "How i can get rid of the xyz virus?". Instead of a more generic title. Delivering a solution is always a good thing, especially if the solution then comes in form of your link at the end of the article where the reader can buy a product which is related to the problem he is looking for!
Keyword Research
The same principles for keyword research apply for articles, web sites or even adwords ads:
You want an article based around a relatively WELL searched keyword term with relatively FEW competition. This already totally excludes mainstream keywords like "make money" or "weight loss" - it would be wasted time to write an article without a real plan and without having done proper keyword research first.
For keyword research before you write your article i recommend Market Samurai! (Now, where is that affiliate program...little joke :)

Without going into a full fledged "how to work with market samurai" course, what i do is the following:
I enter various generic search term to start with, eg. "gardening" or whatever potential good product i see on Clickbank. In the example to the right i used "diet".
Now, MS has filters, and in our case i am only interested in the SEOC (seo competition) and DAILY SEARCHES values. I let MS come up with a list of related words and then filter out all keywords with search volume lower than 100/day.
I let the keywords analyzeby MArket Samurai, and then i filter all out with a SEOC over 45.000 - 30.000. This means LOW number of competing sites which come up in Google for this keyword.
45.000 is "good", but 30.000 would be PRETTY DARN good.
In the screenshot you see that i found one very interesting keyword sugar busters diet.
Its good because it has 217 daily searches and only 31.400 competing sites!
So...i would do good writing and optimizing an article about that sugar busting diet!
How do you do that, optimzing an article?
If any possible, you put the keyword in the title and repeat it a couple or so times in the article and keep the article on topic.
On ezine aritcles, where you enter your keyword you also enter this this keyword, of course. Now, once your article goes live it has a good chance to achieve a good ranking.
Why it is better to have your own landing pages.
I very much love the fact that with article marketing you do NOT need your own landing page, and basically a simple domain redirect would suffice. This way, you can rank your article, bookmark and SEO your article and then get clicks on your domain which redirects to your affiliate link. This is also perfectly allowed.
But if you have your custom landing page you have even more benefits:
Not only would the high PR and ranking of the article on ezine or goarticles benefit your site's ranking. Of course you can do another pre-sell (in addition to what you wrote in your article) on your own site and possibly further increase conversions. A good review blog/site is always good.
But if you really found a good keyword with Market Samurai....you can make your review-site and in addition also SEO optimize your site for the keyword. This way you are shooting for a successful article, but also for a succesful site! You would enjoy possibly good ranking on your article AND organic traffic to your site, at the same time. Its a little more work, yes, but in my opinion worth it.
You can interlink your article with your site, you can interlink blogs, squidoos and whatnot with your article and site, and gain better rankings and sales as opposed to only have an article on EZA and solely depend on the clickouts from your affiliate link.
More Work means More Money
You can sit down and do keyword research and write articles for yourself. You can also outsource the writing and submission. My goal is it to have several articles constantly going live on ezine articles...so i have some people writing and submitting for me right now. I myself do write too, but its just a lot of work. Its a good feeling to know that every week you get like 15-30 articles live...once you have seen that you can make a pretty good amount of money from one single article alone! In addition, you can also outsource the bookmarking and linkbuilding to your articles and to your sites.
