Do back-links to any page on my website benefit my ENTIRE site, or only the specific
page linked to? ? i.e. www.monkeys.com/banana.php .... would that backlink benefit my ENTIRE site in search engine rankings, or only banana.php?

Bottom Line:
Try to get maximum Back Links for your Home Page becoz if your home page Page Rank increases than automatically there Page Rank of all your internal web pages will get updated as well. All the best Cheers
