New rumours about Google's Gbrowser - Upcoming Google Browser ?

Google's Gbrowser - coming soon and just "needs a few patches" ?!

Google's Gbrowser - real or just rumours ?
Since google registered the domain GBROWSER.com two years ago many
have speculated that Google was set for developing it's very own
browser.

But besides rumours, Google increased its support in Firefox and the rumours vanished in time.

CNET announced last week that "Big G" hired browser-hacker and guru Michal Zalewski. Now we have all those rumors again with claims of Google being “closer than ever” to release a browser competing with IE and that it would "only need to patch up potential vulnerabilities” in it's "secret" browser.

A fully blown browser can certainly aid Google to gain "full control" [note/Georg: is this a good thing or a bad thing ?] over the user experience which is limited right now to different areas such as search, mail, spreadsheets and more.

Why would Google want to establish a browser presence - why actually didn't they do that long ago already am i wondering ? Read on...

G already commands more search requests than anyone else. Besides, any company that's willing to bankroll citywide broadband access to make sure that it has a hand in guiding the user experience speaks volumes about its desire to matter even more in cyberspace.

It has been mentioned that Google fears the implementation of an ad-blocking function which will block Google’s Adsense- and Adwords ads as been done with pop-up ads to date.

[Note again: If you read the two articles, especially the latter, it reads like: "Google fears adblock-functionality, therefore they might have GBrowser in their sleeve and therefore "full user control" - meaning that people can NOT block their ads anymore as today with IE and FF. From an advertising and publisher point of view certainly desireable.....from a user's point of view of course horrible. You decide!]

The user can still decide which one is better - i for my part actually always like google's applications. But to compete with FF and IE7 would be a tough one. Also...if it really would be the case Google releasing a browser with the inability to block ads..i wonder what's up their sleeves in functionality/features so people would actually prefer such a browser over FF or IE.

Come on out, Gbrowser. Show us the whites of your eyes. We want to see what you have !

Georg
