What other methods are there to get backlinks and traffic to your site - backlinks which are oh so important for your page rank and site traffic ?

I will introduce you to link baiting - which is another sneaky method for getting links planted and attract traffic to your site.

When i am talking "traffic" i *mean* "traffic" - i know of people who got 10000s of links planted with this method in just a matter of days !

Link baiting, basically, is to create a page with controversial content, be it a picture, or a emotional laden controversial article... make sure it's something which makes people WANT to link to your site in a way like "Oh, look what i found on this site" and want them to share this information with others, eg. on forums.

Link Baiting ideas:

- You "sue"

A big company like google or microsoft and make a big hype about it on the usual places and forums. Needless to say you might have problems with the lawsuit in real life, but this is about getting links to your site and get people talk about what they find on your site and want them to share this information with others.

- Disagree with an authority

And hype up how the big authority is "oh so wrong" with their views.
This can be a known company who's views you disagree with, or it could be something like disagreeing with the way a certain known program or OS works.

Example: " Google's Algorhithms are wrong and give good page rank to the wrong sites" and post this to webmaster forum. (Ok, this is made up - but you can certainly find something to debate over if you're creative) Linux, Windows, Microsoft, Google etc..

- Publish an outrageous new theory about something

Good for certain niches, go into detail, back up your claims

- Top Lists

"Top Lists" are always good. Think about the Top Ten ways to do [insert your niche market here] and publish a useful list. People love top lists - and they're easy to compile too !

- Jokes

- Free downloadable useful programs

You can combine this with an adsense landing page...eg. offering an often needed free program like Adobe Acrobat Reader or a nice screensaver etc.. to download on your site and promote this site well

- Sign Generators, Flash Animations, Similiar entertaining content

I am sure you will come up with ideas of your own. Let your fantasy work there.

It's actually easy - just think about yourself, what kind of site would you want to share if you see it and post on a forum for others to see ?

And then wait and see how thousands of links to your site will be set in a short time.
